History

The history of Gafner AG began in 1985 with its foundation by Fritz Gafner, Jakob Spörri and Max Zimmerli.

Since then, the company has developed into a leading manufacturer of spreaders through steady growth and numerous innovations. The Gafner family continues to shape the company today with their commitment and expertise.

1985
Fritz Gafner, Jakob Spörri and Max Zimmerli found Gafner AG. First Gafner spreaders are produced and sold.

1989
Gafner AG is the first company to bring a trailed side spreader with 5 m³ capacity onto the market.

1992
The first roto spreaders go into production.

1996
The vario system is presented to the public.

1997
The 5000th Gafner spreader is produced.

1998
First production of the «duo» 2-sided spreader

1999
Christian Gafner takes over the company's production management.

2002
Matthias Gafner takes over the technical department.

2005
Gafner celebrates its 20th anniversary and handover of the company to Christian and Matthias Gafner.

2010
Gafner exhibits the 12 m³ capacity gafner xl at Agrama in Bern for the first time.

2012
The roto model is launched. The XL spreader model appears on the market.

2016
Gafner delivered the 10 000th spreader.

2018
The Gafner turnstile: Convenient for People and safe for animals

2020
Innovation: Presentation of the 40 km/h trailer brake (not yet certified)

2021
Approval received for the first CH-certified trailer brake for 40 km/h

2024
A new spare parts warehouse and office building is built.
